The Nugget’s J.R. Smith has been chosen to replace the injured Rudy Gay of the Grizzlies in this year’s dunk contest. How come Smith instead of one of the two from the public voting contest involving Alexander, Westbrook and Fernandez, which Fernandez won?
Whenever talk of a dunk contest arises it brings back fond memories of the first ever dunk contest that was held during the 1976 ABA All-Star game in Denver. I was right there on the bench opposite the foul line with a bird’s eye view of the Doctor’s attempt at taking off from behind the foul line.

I hope we at least see a dunk that wins not based on props. Blindfolds, cell phones, stickers, and capes are great, but not for the winning dunk.

No way Rudy Fernandez should be in there. Joe Alexander would actually stand a chance. Now Dwight is surely going to win again.
