Category: Dribbling
Skill Level: Middle School, High School
Required: 1 Ball
Instructions:

The player should have their knees slightly bent and their feet just outside shoulder width apart. The right leg should be ahead of the left leg.

Starting with the right hand, the player starts dribbling the ball from the back of their right foot around the front and starts to bring the ball between their legs. At this moment (between their legs), the ball is transferred from the right hand to the left hand.

The player continues dribbling with the left hand around the back left foot to the front left foot. The player continues dribbling and starts to bring the ball between the legs where it is switched back to the right hand. The drill continues in this fashion.

Variations

  • Can switch up the drill to have the drill start with the left hand dribbling around the left front foot and continuing the drill on.

Expert Quotes

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.”

- Tim Duncan

Keys to the Drill
    • The head is always up and not looking at the ball while dribbling.
    • While dribbling, make sure the ball stays low to the ground and concentrate on using fingertips.
    • As the player becomes more advanced, speed up the dribble but make sure the fundamentals are not lost.
