The NBA has announced the field for the first annually H-O-R-S-E competition that will be held over NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix.
The lineup include last year’s rookie of the year Kevin Durant, potentially this year’s rookie of the year OJ Mayo, and Eastern Confereence All-Star Joe Johnson. Having never seen any trick shots out of any of these guys, my guess is pretty much a shot in the dark. My gut is telling me Mayo will pull it off and that is who I am predicting to win it.
In other news, JR Smith will replace Rudy Gay in the Slam Dunk contest. Gay had to pull out of the competition due to hip injury. Smith is one of the more entertaining high-flyers the NBA has. He probably should have been in the dunk contest to begin with, but I do not think he will win it all.
From Smith’s McDonalds All-American days to the Denver Nuggets, I found a video that shows the top 100 dunks of all-time by JR Smith. Check it out.

HORSE is a game of talent and intelligence. You have to be clever.
Thus, I am basing my predictions on these guys education. So, the question is, who got a better education? Mayo had a freshman year at USC and Durant did one year at Texas. Joe Johnson had 2 years of college, but that was at Arkansas.
I would rank their educations and thus my picks for winning HORSE as follows:
1. Joe Johnson
2. OJ Mayo
3. Kevin Durant
I am probably the smartest person I know and I am a terrible HORSE player. Therefore, your logic goes completely out of the window. It is like saying you are a good basketball player if you can spin the ball on your finger.
I can’t spin the ball on my finger. Does that mean I’m a good basketball player?
