Livingston Signs with Heat

According to the associated press, former Clipper and former fourth overall pick in the draft, Shaun Livingston, has signed a two year contract with the Miami Heat.

Why is this such big news? I am not sure if you remember, but Livingston severely injured his leg in a game over 19 months ago. Since then, he has had reconstructive surgery and has been going through an intense rehab program to regain strength in his leg. I have posted the video of his injury as a reminder on how damaging his injury was.

I know I know. You guys hate me now for showing this video, but, seriously, it is a miracle that he can even walk, let alone play basketball. I am happy to see Shaun work so hard to get back on the basketball court and it looks like the Miami Heat and Dwayne Wade are glad to see him on the court as well,

“He has great size and feel for the game at his position,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “I’ve followed him for a few years. It’s unfortunate, really, what happened, but we’d normally never be able to get a player of his talent at this time. He’s very committed to getting healthy and we have a great staff to help him get there.”

“I think a lot of people will be surprised by how good he looks because of the injury he had,” Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. “Of course we all know he still has a ways to go. But I think for the future I think it’s going to be good. Give him time to get back in shape and time to get healthy and you’ve got a 6-7 point guard for the future at a very young age.”
