One Billion

by Michael on August 10, 2008

Over 1 billion people watched Team USA take on Team China this morning in China.  That’s a lot. I told you Basketball is popular in China

But seriously, the game was a landmark game for the growth of the sport.  Although the USA won this historic game fairly easily, it continues to show the immense populalrity of the sport in China and globally.

(On a completely irrevelant note, I’ve been watching the Olympics for the last couple of hours.  Did Nike forget that they were sponsoring the outfits for the broadcasters?  Half of them have shirts on that coud fit Lebron, and the”Beijing 2008″ logos looked like they were ironed on about 3 minutes before they went live.)

Anyways a billion is a bigger number than I can fathom, (It’s a about a million million I think?!? I’m not sure I wasn’t Ivy League) but I know that there is some serious potential for anything that receives a billion viewers.  I’m still waiting for the first Youtube video to get a billion views. Personally, I think Chocolate Rain has a fighting chance.

I’ve almost managed to link to all of my other articles (all 3 of them) which became a goal as I am writing this, Maybe China should have bought the Sonics… Ok. I cheated.
