As an update to an earlier post, 2009 Dunk Contest: You Decide, Rudy Fernandez appears to have gotten the votes to enter the 2009 dunk contest and be the fourth contestant against Dwight Howard, Nate Robinson and Rudy Gay.
Personally, I was pulling for Joe Alexander. After watching his highlight tape on NBA.com and pulling some videos from YouTube, I thought he was the most capable of bringing home the trophy. I mean he warms up by hitting his head on the rim, and he promised two–never before seen–dunks that were not gimmicks. Unfortunately, Internet users did not share my sentiment and we will have Fernandez in the dunk contest.I do think Rudy will do a very good job in the competition, but do not think he stands a chance against the other 3 dunk-stars.
Rudy’s Spanish teammate, Sergio Rodriguez, will not assist him in the competition, but Brandon Roy will fill in to be his wing-man.
Everything Roy has touched this year has turned to gold this year, maybe he can provide the lift that Fernandez needs to win the competition outright. At least, Rudy will do better than the guy below in the dunk competition…

Yeah, that guy dunking does not deserve anything more than 2′s or 3′s for missing. If he made it on the other hand…
