USA defeats Angola

The U.S. Men’s Olympic team defeated the mighty Angolans today 97-76. Though the game was a blow-out, it doesn’t compare to the thrashing the “real” Dream Team put on Angola back in 1992 when they won 116-48. Either way, the game was a yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn! Here is the boxscore for you stat fanatics.

In more fun fact news, guess who has the best selling jersey in all of China?

Yao Ming? Nope.

Lebron James? Nope.

Caveman Chris Kaman? Nope, just seeing if you were still paying attention.

Kobe Bryant? Yes. He had the #1 selling jersery in China last year. Behind him is Garnett at 2, McGrady at 3, Pierce at 4 and Iverson at 5. Apparently, besides Garnett, the Chinese love no defense and ball hogs. Yao Ming is ranked 10th on the list and believe that he is not higher because all of China already has his jersey. I am just guessing.

Very interesting little bit of detail Jaime. I mean I wonder why a 7′6″ post center who can’t block shot due to his short arms is NOT the number one selling jersey in China. I mean I can’t see why all of China’s basketball players don’t get on the playgrounds in China and yell out “I wanna be Yao this game!” and just shoot standing 15 footers all day!

Kobe, KG, T-Mac, P-double, and Iverson are all way more exciting than Yao. Big men can’t sell shoes nor can they sell jerseys. It’s simple fact backed by science…and I found it on Wiki searched by google so it has to be truth.

I am seriously looking for the article bashing Dwight Howard’s play and Jason Kidd’s during these Olympics or even how we can’t control the boards. Is dominance too much to ask for? Will patience be rewarded?

  2. Jaime, Jaime, Jaime. How could you say the game was that boring? In the first five minutes alone I saw backdoors, skip passes, wide open threes in the corner, blocked shots, steals – and all from ANGOLA!! I haven’t even finished the first quarter and I can already see how the three teams that can compete with them can beat them. I haven’t watched this team play before, and I’m frightened how they play defense. They post up Carmelo and watch him have to foul. The only reason he starts is because he must have naked pictures of Coach K. Dwight Howard doesn’t hedge when his man screens. Their only recipe is to fire up a quick three and if they miss, get the rebound and dunk. Most likely, this formula will yield them a gold medal, but it’s clear to me that there’s no way Team USA can continue to play this way and keep winning medals, much less gold. When I finish the game, I’ll post some more observations. But anyone who watched the beginning of this game should be anything but bored – they should be scared.
