My guess is majority of you out there have never heard of Anthony Morrow nor have ever seen him play. In a time where everybody in this economy is fighting for their job, you can find inspiration from this young rookie.
As an undrafted rookie, Morrow has had to fight for his job. He has had to compete with veterans for not just playing time but a roster spot that comes with notable salary–albeit the league minimum. He has been so impressive this young season that his coach, Don Nelson, started him for the first time on Saturday against the Clippers and Morrow did not let him down.
Saturday night, Anthony Morrow went off scoring 37 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the Warriors win. Morrow shot 15-20 from the field connecting on 4 of 5 three-pointers. He was flat out impressive, and obviously, shot the ball great.
Even though he is a rookie, Morrow had some mature words to say about Saturday’s game:
“You always feel it, it’s just all about staying poised,” he said. “You can’t start getting too anxious, like, ‘OK, I’ve got to make the next shot since I made the last one. It’s just like keep playing. It’s a game of errors, really. You’re going to make some mistakes. It’s all about staying poised and going out there and doing what you do.”
On the season, Morrow is shooting a scorching 61% from the field including 58% from beyond the arc. The kid is en fuego and Warriors will keep pumping this well until it is dry.
How did this kid go undrafted?
