According to David Aldridge at NBA.com, the Rockets may be getting tired of McGrady and want to ship him out of town.
Apparently, their other star, Yao Ming, feels the same way.
“They don’t speak,” an extremely plugged-in person tells me. “And Yao wants him out.”
Unfortunately for the Rockets and Yao, moving McGrady is highly unlikely this season. T-Mac is owed $20.3 million this season and his contract is too much of a burden, along with his health, for any team to pull the trigger on him. However, next season his expiring contract of $22.4 will be coming up and the Rockets will have a much better opportunity of moving him.
IMO, McGrady is soft, not a winner and plays terrible defense–not a good combination. He has all of the talent in the world and could be a top 5 player easily, except he does not have that “killer instinct” so many coaches loathe for. I have said and still believe that you can not win an NBA championship with McGrady, he just does not have the makeup of a champion.
In the NBA, championships are won by players with toughness and who love to compete. If you look at the past champions, you see players who do not back down from any opponent and will their way to victory. It is next to impossible to try and name a superstar, who was a champion, that did NOT have that killer instinct and toughness to grit out a victory. Now, look at McGrady. Do you see the same player? I don’t.
With McGrady’s talents, you may be able to be a winning team, a playoff bound team, but a championship team you will not be.

I see how you would be fed up with T-Mac. I agree with the whole he is a loser angle but who can the Rockets get to be their Alpha Dog on this team?
I would have to say that right now, Skip is their heart and soul at least from what I have seen in recent playoff series. As Skip goes so do the Rockets…this is not a good thing. Yao is a cookie ready to crumble too…it’s not like the is the poster boy for healthy ball players. Artest, well enough said. Basically who is available and would be willing to come to Houston?
Granted T-Mac isn’t going to take that team anywhere…but who is going to do better? I think the Rockets are stuck, unfortunately you can’t have the Video Game Rockets playing in real life or else they would be ready for the title!
Anyone have any ideas on who they could get to help their team do better than with T-Mac?
How do you loathe for something?
